Asceles margaritatus – Asian Stick Insect

It is an elegant and relatively easy species to keep, suitable for both beginners and people with some experience keeping stick insects.

They mainly feed on bramble (blackberry leaves), although they can also accept rose or raspberry leaves. They require humidity around 65–75% and good ventilation to stay healthy.

They can reproduce by parthenogenesis, meaning females can lay viable eggs without a male, although the presence of males allows for more genetically diverse offspring. The eggs usually take between 3 and 5 months to hatch, depending on temperature and humidity. Nymphs will grow through several molts until reaching adulthood in approximately 4–5 months.
