Geographical area: Central Europe, extending south to Greece and for some distance to Turkey and Asia Minor
Feeding: the caterpillars feed on a wide variety of fruit trees, but they breed great with brambles. The adult butterfly does not feed and lives for a week, all the energy it obtained when it was a caterpillar. The only function of the adult phase is reproduction.
